Bulldogs are somewhat out of place at the beach. That being said, I never saw Buddha happier than when she was there. With typical bulldog determination she launched herself into the tides and her 11 year-old body was young again. We won't talk about the effects of eating sand.

Pens

Yup. That's about it, not much special here. A gel pen of which I bought Amy a 100 pack, A green sharpie (no idea why green), Another pen I stile from Amy, and a Quad pen that I bought when I lost my Treo stylus. The pen holder is from Ikea. Those are Starbucks mints, a Moleskine, A framed four-leaf clover, and a travel clock that I bought on the Apple campus (damned thing never did work).

Trainspotting: Music From The Motion Picture

Okay, I love the movie and the book, so I suppose it is only natural that I love the soundtrack. To be honest , I generally hate movie soundtracks and shy away from them, but this one has enough gems on it that it is worth a listen every now and then. It is impossible to listen to Lou Reed's Perfect Day and not picture Ewan McGregor sinking into the carpet. That and the use of Iggy Pop's Lust for Life in the opening sequence is perfect.

Runner-ups: Less than Zero (Bring the Noise remains one of the single best hip hop songs to this day) and I have never even seen the movie.

Reservoir Dogs: Like this one won't be a million people's choices, only Tarantino could pair such cheery music to such a violent film.

Whack-a-Moto

Ahhh. Nothing rings in a springtime morn like the chirping of birds and the maniacal howl of a puppy that feels it is her duty to patrol the house with a mighty fury to be envied by someone much more capable of enforcing their verbal threats. A 5 am wake-up call has become the norm, generally triggered by the sound of a neighboring cat's collar, a bird chirping, a dog barking, or the thought of any of the above. If nothing stirs her, then it is simply Moto's need to join the rest of the family in a warm bed that causes me to bolt upright and curse the coming day.

Titanic

I actually a bit repulsed that I actually have this crappy DVD image on my blog. It just kind of grosses me out. I suppose I can't really say that I can't stand watching this movie because I never have watched it. The thought of it makes me want to purge my last three meals. Ironically, Amy and I have separately taken vows to never ever watch Titanic, and I think I take that more seriously than just about any vow ever. Sadly, Amy has not taken a vow against Matlock or Little House on the Prairie which makes my home life a bit rough.

Dance!...Ya Know It!

It has a nice beat and you can dance to it. Plus the dance remix of Tender 'Roni' far outshines the sappy romantic version. Sadly, I still think I could get my jam on to 'My Prerogative'. This is just one of the many reasons that an eleven year-old should not be allowed to have a Columbia House membership.

Dog Fighter, The: A Novel

This would be a pretty gruesome movie, but the story is excellent. Plus it is set in Baja California. Can't remember the last movie I saw about Baja California. Why is that? I wonder if it has to do with the humpback whales.

I love Anthony Bourdain and this his first non-fiction work is a great insight into the culinary world. Every professional chef and food service industry worker that I know swears it is all true as well.
